Bus Route Changes
The new Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension (TYSSE) will require changes to some parts of the bus network. The bus network will change to promote new connections and improve subway access for customers.
Background
The TYSSE is an 8.6 km subway project that will extend the TTC’s Line 1 subway from Sheppard West Station (formerly Downsview Station) northwest through York University within the City of Toronto and north to the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, in the Regional Municipality of York.
There will be six new stations and the subway extension is scheduled to open in late 2017.
The maps below shows the changes to the bus network that will connect to the subway extension. The changes will allow for new connections to subway service and improve overall travel time for customers. Key changes to the network include:
- Connecting bus services to serve new subway stations where possible
- Route 196 York University Rocket bus route will be replaced by the subway extension
- York Region Transit buses will replace the service north of Steeles Avenue West on Weston Road, Jane Street, Keele Street and Dufferin Street
- No buses will operate into York University Commons, but service will continue to operate around the York University campus
There will be no change to any other routes not shown in the map.
