King-Queen-Queensway-Roncesvalles intersection - track and infrastructure improvements
City and TTC will be working to improve the intersection in 2021 and 2022
What we are doing and why
City and TTC will be working at the intersection of King Street, Queen Street, The Queensway, and Roncesvalles Avenue (KQQR) this year. The project will include replacing streetcar track, overhead infrastructure/poles, lighting, watermain and sewers, and also extend the dedicated streetcar right-of-way from Claude Avenue east to KQQR, enhance streetcar stops and improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists. The overall joint project is expected to be completed by summer 2022.
As of January 3, in preparation for this project, buses have replaced 501 Queen streetcars between Long Branch Loop and Jarvis Street, and 504 King streetcars between Dundas West Station and Shaw Street. Additional service changes/diversions will be necessary in the KQQR area beginning in late March.
Additional information and service changes will be updated here as well as the City of Toronto's dedicated webpage.
